Yesterday, the South Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy Technical Standards Institute said that the submission of the light-emitting diode (LED) lighting standards is adopted as international standards draft of the  International Electrotechnical Commission,which is expected to become the first international standards of LED lighting.

Experts Call for China to actively participate in the formulation of LED lighting international standards, although this requires a lot of input, we can strive for more Industry initiatives by the development of international standards. Prior to that, our counry is controlled by others in many areas of international competition ,we not only had to turn over high patent fees, but also often encountered standards barriers in foreign trade because of standards leave behind others.

In fact, not only South Korea, the United States, Germany and other countries have attached great importance to the standardization of LED lighting. Chen Yumei, general manager of China's lighting network, told reporters yesterday, LED lighting is a new industry at home and we do have not drown up national standards at present. However, the Government, enterprises and academia are actively involved in the development of standards, and in the development part of the international standards, standards need to adapt both the level of domestic technology, but also as a good convergence with international standards.
